Overview
What it is
Made of rubber and metal, oil seals prevent leakage of oil in gearboxes and grease in wheels and engines. Usually fitted on a shaft after the corresponding bearing is mounted, they hold back abrasive and corrosive moisture and stop harmful contaminants from entering the machinery, especially in severe environments. As a vital component in every type of machine and vehicle in operation, they protect precision ball, sleeve, and roller bearings by keeping different media such as lubricating oil and water from mixing.
