Overview
What it is
The inner ring of this bearing has two raceways and the outer ring has a single spherical raceway whose centre of curvature coincides with the bearing axis. This lets the inner ring, balls and cage deflect around the bearing centre, so minor angular misalignment of the shaft and housing from machining or mounting errors is corrected automatically. These bearings typically feature a tapered bore for mounting with adapter sleeves, and have the lowest friction of all rolling bearings, helping them run cooler at high speeds.
